Note from Madam Potts
This event is NOT to be missed. My favorite NYC tea place, Sanctuary T is pairing up with the hottest, trendiest and tastiest artisnal chocolate place, Vosges -- it is a match made in heaven.
That being said, as I will be on a plane to Florida I will be missing it...but really....I recommend this event highly!!!!

How Sweet It Is!

It never ceases to surprise me how many people apologize for wanting to put sugar in their tea, as if admitting a serious tea-drinking faux pas. I’ve always invited my guests to do what makes them comfortable and to drink their tea in any fashion they feel most pleasing. Still I get meek apologies as if they feel that sugar in tea is just plain wrong. It got me thinking, is sweetening one's tea a low-brow act of tasteless vulgarity?

Tea Candy!
Finally - tea to go!
No mess, no fuss, and you can keep it in your pocket!
No mess, no fuss, and you can keep it in your pocket!
I was gifted 2 bags last night of Bali's Best Classic Iced Tea and Citrus Green Tea. Since then, I have been sucking down tea like mad. The Classic Iced tastes exactly like a sweet iced tea, and the citrus has a disinct lime-citrus flavor.
Unfortunately the website on the side of the bag has info about buying it by the case. and should I have a tea shop I most certainly would carry them...
I have not seen them in a lot of stores,
but I will be keeping an eye out!

What to do with Sweet Tea

I do not like heavily fruity teas.
Be it a flavored black (passion fruit ceylon) or a fruit based tisane (berry papaya mango).
My tongue recoils in horror at the taste (or thought) of what is essentially "hot fruit".

A person could easily question, why then would you keep such repellent teas on your shelf?
Call it upbringing, habit, or just a tea lover's compassion...but something prohibits me from ditching otherwise perfectly usable tea....I always figure there must be SOMEthing I can do with this...
So I have found that the sweeter teas make for teasingly good iced teas!
(sorry, couldn't resist!)
Brew Double Strength tea,
add to larger shaker full of ice.
Shaker? ...you ask...
Yes, like a martini shaker or tupperware - anything with a lid, really...
The shaking helps cool the tea faster than just pouring into a pitcher full of ice,
especially if you want it right away.
10-15 shakes and you've got iced tea!
....see? And you were just going to throw it away!

Winter's Delight Cocoa
It's snowed twice already this Winter. I'm not a big fan of Winter, but there are times that I don't mind the cold: Big comfy sweaters, frolicking in the untouched show, and most of all, hot cocoa!
This plenty sinful recipe with a tropical island touch will have you praying for snow!
Hot Coconut Chocolate
1 can of coconut milk
2 tbls of Hershey's Baking Cocoa Powder
simmer slowly and evenly until hot. Do not boil.
IN YOUR MUG COMBINE:
2 tsp of coffee ice cream
a splash of Kaluha
add the hot cocoa/milk
melt one square of your fav chocolate/truffle
*I used a square of a butterscotch filled gourmet choc bar
